Review : The Covenant (2006)

Have you ever watched Harry Potter? The Covenant probably is not as famous as Harry Potter, but the story of this film also tells about the power of magic and no less interesting with Harry Potter or some other film which use magic powers.

In 1962 there was a colony called Ipswich in the Massachusetts. This colony firmly maintain strength while hiding power . At that time, the five families of Ipswich are descendants allying to hide their strength . Until one day, one of the five families escaped and went away.

After a few generations of descendants of Ipswich life, the four remaining families continue to keep the secret. Until an era, four Ipswich’s children of each family attend the prestigious Spencer Academy. They are Caleb Danvers (Steven Strait), Pogue Parry (Taylor Kitsch), Reid Garwin (Toby Hemingway) and Tyler Simms (Chace Crawford). The power that they have cause a sense addiction to continue using it. In addition, when the owner of the power reaches the age of 18 years, the strength will be stronger and the temptation to use it is also getting bigger. While the use of force itself make the user become increasingly weak physically and become visible in the older age compared with his real age.

When a new semester begins, the peace of the four of them began to fail. And it turns out because of Chase Collins (Sebastian Stan) who proved to be a descendant from the fifth family of colonies Ipswich who have escaped. Arrival Chase aims to take on the powers that be owned by Caleb who was a lovely son in the Ipswich colony which in a few days will reach the 18 -year -old . In addition , Chase is already very addicted to the power turns on the night when he was 18 years old, he killed his own father so that his father strength become his strength.

Chase uses Sarah Wenham (Laura Ramsey), a new student who is close to Caleb as a decoy. Chase use her to make Caleb came and handed his power when Caleb strength to increase at the age of 18 years. Not only Sarah, Chase also use Kate (Jessica Lucas), Pogue girlfriend’s to became his target. Chase make her sick and make Kate in intensive care in a hospital and was unconscious.

Finally on the night that Caleb grew older, he held captive in a family -owned cottage Ipswich. And that's where the fight between Caleb and Chase. Caleb who never get another power other than its almost unbeatable by Chase who has had another strength that comes from his father. But suddenly Caleb gets more power beside his birthday present. His mother, Evelyn (Wendy Crewson)who didn't want something happen with her child begged to Caleb 's father who is no longer can do anything due to his addiction to use the strength to give his power to Caleb. In the end, Caleb 's father gives his strength to make Caleb can beat Chase. Sarah and Kate who are in the Chase spell were finally realized and recover finally.

In the morning, when firefighters put out the fire in the lodge which arise as a result of the battle, the officers did not find Chase’s bodies that have been defeated by Caleb. This means Chase bodies have disappeared.
